The Legendary Campus Board

„If the hard moves at the bottom of a route start to feel easy, you´re going to be less pumped by the time you reach the top“, said Jerry Moffat back in the 1980s. A good reason for Jerry Moffat and Wolfgang Güllich to become stronger, even though they were the strongest climbers of their time in the late 1980s. General and specific workout was an essential part of their 24/7 climbing life.

In 1988, Wolfgang Güllich invented the first Campus Board to improve his finger strength for his hardest project, Action Directe, 9a. Wolfgang Güllich, the sport student, transfered the effective and established workout systems and theories of traditional sports into his Campus Board workout and achieved his goal - in September 1991 he climbed Action Directe, the benchmark 9a.

Why is it called Campus Board? Because the original Campus Board was hung at a gym in Nuremberg, called Campus. Between athletes who were pumping iron to become bigger, Wolfgang Güllich started to become stronger.
